Ribbons License Agreement

The ribbons software distribution package (the software) for general molecular illustration and analysis in protein crystallography is copyrighted 1985-2007 by Mike Carson (the author) and licensed through the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Center for Biophysical Sciences and Technology (CBSE, formerly the CMC, Center for Macromolecular Crystallography).

The software is not public domain or open source (yet).
The copyrighted software is furnished under a license and may be used or copied only in accordance with the terms below:

All rights reserved. No part of this work may be reproduced in any form or by any means or used to make a derivative work (translation, transformation, or adaption) without the written permission of the author. Copies may be made only for backup purposes.
This is a single-site license. The software is to be used solely at the licensee's premises. Those wishing to obtain a multi-site license should contact the author for terms. For an academic license, the program will only be used for academic teaching and research. Anyone adhering to the terms of this license may use the software.
The software will not be passed on to any third parties. Reasonable precautions will be made to prevent unauthorized access. If someone wishes to obtain a copy of the software, please have them contact the author.
Neither the author or UAB/CBSE are responsible for the use of the software. No warranty is expressed or implied. All information is subject to change without notice and should not be construed as a commitment by the author or UAB/CBSE for further development and support.
Any bugs will be reported. Any enhancements made by the licensee will be made available to the author. If incorporated into future versions, your work will be acknowledged in the manual.

Any required fees will be paid to the UAB/CBSE within 60 days. If you choose not to pay after receiving and evaluating the software, you promise not to use the software and to destroy all copies.
