The ribbons software distribution package (the software) for general molecular illustration and analysis in protein crystallography is copyrighted 1985-2007 by Mike Carson (the author) and licensed through the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Center for Biophysical Sciences and Technology (CBSE, formerly the CMC, Center for Macromolecular Crystallography).
The software is not public domain or open source (yet).

This is a single-site license. The software is to be used solely at the licensee's premises. Those wishing to obtain a multi-site license should contact the author for terms. For an academic license, the program will only be used for academic teaching and research. Anyone adhering to the terms of this license may use the software.
